The Forge Study, 5" x 7"

Regular price

This original piece of artwork features part of the building that once housed the forge of the Colt Firearms Factory in Hartford, CT.  Although currently abandoned, it is part of the greater Colt Armory which has been adaptively reused into businesses, schools and housing.  The foundry and forge at this site have recently been donated to the National Park Service and is slated to be restored and turned into a Visitors Center.  But for now, it has a wonderfully rustic, aged patina that hearkens back to its beginnings in 1855.

This mixed media painting is layered with my photography of the building, vintage documents, acrylic paints and oil pastels to create a unique, vintage inspired piece of industrial art.  This is the one-of-a kind original, not a reproduction and is the basis (study) for a much larger piece planned.

• artwork measures 5"x7" on a wood block
• block is then set within a 6"x8" natural wood floating frame
