All that is standing in good condition at the Great Western Sugar Mill in Longmont, Colorado is this set of concrete silos and water tower. I set out to photograph the mill itself but it had fallen in grave disrepair due to time, weather, fires and vandals. Though I was disappointed to not be able to capture the mill itself, I was happy to see the silos and water tower in pretty good condition and on their own, are a common sight in rural/Eastern Colorado. This mixed media piece incorporates my photography with several layers of acrylic paint and recycled and vintage papers to give this rural yet industrial piece a modern, contemporary feel.
