The mosaic pattern of the windows, the patina of the concrete and brick, the long history - these are all things that draw me to these abandoned buildings. So many factories and mills go unnoticed, yet there is a haunting beauty in their history, their grunginess, their abstract beauty. This particular piece is of the Hopkins & Allen Co., a once bustling firearms manufacturer in Norwich, CT.
This is the original piece of artwork I created using mixed media techniques including acrylic paints, vintage documents (including Hopkins & Allen specific ephemera) with my photography. A historical piece yet contemporary piece of fine art.
