Vintage Mill, 24" x 36"

Regular price

I'm so drawn to the history of old mills, which there are no shortage of in New England.  Connecticut is home to hundreds of old mills from the 1800s, many related to the fabric and clothing industry and were a boon to the local economy in the 19th and 20th century.

This particular mill, the D. H. Scovil mill, is located in Haddam, CT and once ground feldspar used to make porcelain products.  Though it looks abandoned, it was recently used for storage by the CT Department of Transportation and is currently being considered for adaptive reuse.

This piece is layered with mill-inspired vintage photos, postcards and documents relevant to the late 19th century when this mill was at its peak.  This is the one-of-a kind original, not a reproduction.
